I had a batting cage facility near me that had no top net on their cages, thus allowing you to hit the ball out of the cage if hit well, ie high enough to get over the back net, and not so high that you hit the net directly over your head in the batters box. I am looking to find any and all facilities that have similar set-ups or have no netting past the batter’s box, IE just pitching machines/jugs guns allowing the full travel of the batted ball to occur. Similar to a golf driving range in regards to the open field feel versus a cage. Websites and/or locations of these facilities would be appreciated. Thanks all!!

ok in the winter you cant go outside and practice basketball so how can you improve at basketball so what drills workouts ect can i do? im 12 just to let you know and i have accsess to a tredmill, gazell, and a work out bench. (according to things ive read you shouldnt work out untill your like 15)

a few things u can do in the offseason.

* strap weights to your ankles and jump to touch the backboard – this will help increase your vertical leap
* practice freethrows – coaches love a player that can hit freethrows
* shoot for baskets at night, so you rely more on your jumper than knowing where the ring is
* keeping bouncing away

I started to practice baseball with my friends at the batting cage and at the park. I’ve gotten good at catching and throwing but there is a bad part. Whenever we go to the batting cage, i struggle. My lady-friend struggled in the batting cage too, but then I used stronger duct tape.

Imagination is your best tool. There are many backdrops out there for baseball needs. You throw the ball, it bouces back to you. What if you found a way to cut out the middle of the net? It could still bouce off if you miss, but travel through the hole for a hit. What would you put behind it and around it? A backyard fence? If you have access to it, a few hay bales?

Your best design is the one you haven’t dreamed up yet…keep planning and come up with something better.

I’ve been wearing 5 pound ankle weights on each leg for a while (started in mid August) and gonna wear them until November. The only times I don’t wear them is school, shower, and bed. I shoot basketball with them, jump with them, and run with them. I’m pretty sure they will have a tremendous impact for me by November, but I’ve heard that they are bad for my ankles. As in, they are tearing muscle tissue and bone because your ankle aren’t used to supporting so much weight. Can people list a doctor’s link for this?

Don’t Wear or Carry Weights When You Exercise

Wearing ankle weights will not help you to run faster or longer, or jump higher. Training is specific. To run faster in competition, you have to run fast in practice. Ankle weights slow you down because they interfere with your coordination and make you work much harder to raise your knees. To train your muscles so you will be able to run longer, you have to run faster or for a longer time. The heavy weights will tire you earlier so you will not be able to run as fast or as far.

Using ankle weights won’t help you to jump higher, either. To jump higher, you have to strengthen your leg muscles in the same way that you would use them to jump. When you wear ankle weights, you strengthen your leg muscles for lifting weights off the ground with your feet. When you jump, you raise your body off the ground. To help you to jump higher, you have to raise your body up against resistance. You do this by doing leg presses or squats with heavy weights on your shoulders.

Ankle weights can also increase your chances of being injured. Since they force you to lift a much heavier weight when you raise your knees, they strengthen the quadriceps muscles in the front of your upper leg without strengthening the hamstrings in the back equally. This can make your quad muscle proportionately so much stronger than your hamstrings that you are prone to injury. The same principles apply to carrying weights when you walk or run, or wearing weighted belts or other devices. Strength training should be done using weights with proper form in specific exercises, and should be kept separate from your aerobic activities.

area = x^2 + 4xy
constraint: x^2 y = 250/3 => y = 250/(3x^2)
=> area = f(x) = x^2 + 1000/(3x)
f’(x) = 2x – 1000/(3x^2) = 0
x = (500/3)^(1/3) = 5.50 m
y = 2.75 m
