Your Orange County Ravens traveled to Nipomo, CA to take on the San Luis Obispo Panthers in non-division play. Beautiful weather at kick off 67 degrees and clear skies allowed the Ravens to soar through this game with ease and confidence.  Ravens take the opening drive 60 yards in 6 plays capped off by a dazzling catch and run by #80 Kojo Ahrin one of three touchdown catches on the day. Kyle Parrish continues to torch the statistics by going 18 of 26 for 320 yards 5 td’s and 2 int’s on the day compiling a passer rating of 117%. Final score of this flyby was Ravens 49 Panthers 2.

A battle at the running back position has begun between #33 Craigston Robbins, #5 Quincy Wimbish, and #6 Sam Hogan. Each making the most of their touches with Robbins grabbing two scores one on the ground and one through the air with Wimbish adding one to the collection plate himself with a running score. Not to be outdone Hogan was putting in work grinding out tough yards to help seal the game up.  Head Coach Michael Fuller is quoted as saying this when asked about his running backs, “ We are very fortunate to have three seasoned veteran running backs this year and a trio of young guys that will add their names to the mix as well. As a coach you want depth and experience when you enter a season, we have all of that. They each understand that they bring something a little different to the table and are patient and proud to play their roles accordingly. They are a testament to the overall functionality of this team and organization in how we approach the game with a team first attitude. I am humbled to be their coach.”

Ravens defense is on a mission to establish themselves as one of the most dominating units in the league if not the state. Holding the Panthers to a total of 120 yards of total offense while accumulating 4 sacks, 2 interceptions, and 1 fumble recovery on the day.  Coach Rycroft is quoted as saying this when asked about his units play, “ I am starting to see this group come together and I like what I see” . This group of guys makes it a real team effort with more than 10 players accumulating stats on a week to week basis. This is a reflection on Coach Rycrofts approach to the game. A no nonsense, just get it done attitude that has obviously rubbed off on not just the defensive players but the team as a whole.

Your Ravens are on a much needed bye week this week and will return to the field of battle on September 11th at West Adams Prep High School @ 7pm to square off against the California Dolphins.
